About me
Ms. Brinda Leon serves as the Superintendent of Brea Olinda Unified School District and brings
over two decades of dedicated service in public education. Her career, spanning 25 years,
includes various district-level roles. She is particularly noted for her expertise in
employee-employer relations, risk management/benefits, litigation, and human resources.
She has demonstrated exceptional skills in contract negotiations, having served as a co-lead or
lead negotiator at seven different tables during her career. Her approach includes both
positional and interest-based bargaining strategies which have been instrumental in
successfully settling numerous contract negotiations.
Under her leadership, BOUSD has achieved significant milestones. She played a pivotal role in
launching the district’s strategic plan initiatives, steering the district through the challenges of the
COVID-19 pandemic, and building strong community and association partnerships that have
been fundamental to the success of both staff and students.
Ms. Leon is a firm believer in collaboration and innovation, always seeking to forge partnerships
that enhance educational opportunities. She is passionate about educating the whole child,
ensuring each student can reach their full potential and become a valuable contributor to our
dynamic global society.
Ms. Leon holds a master's degree in organizational leadership from Point Loma Nazarene
University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California Baptist University. She also
completed the ACSA Personnel Academy. Her commitment to leadership development is further
exemplified by her Franklin Covey Speed of Trust, Trainer of Trainers role while serving in San
Bernardino City Unified School District. She was recognized for her service when she received a
Golden Apple Award from the San Bernardino City Unified School District, and most recently
was recognized as the 2023 CCEA Plus Region 1 Superintendent of the Year.
Beyond her professional realm, Ms. Leon is a devoted mother to three children, Zachary (29),
Alexa (25), and Sophia (22). She carries with her the proud legacy of a military family, being the
daughter and sibling of retired United States Marine Corps members. This background has
imbued her with a profound sense of duty and commitment, qualities that she brings to her role
as a leader in education.
