Superintendents at community-funded districts, aka basic aid districts, grapple with many challenges that are distinct because of the district’s dependence on local property taxes. While serving students is at the center of the work as it is for all superintendents, at community-funded districts, superintendents must also be able to communicate why the LCFF calculation is less relevant than for other districts, be best friends with their county assessor, and preserve a reserve level that may look significantly different than your neighboring districts. Learn about navigating these issues with your peers as we bring together community-funded superintendents from across the state to hear from a panel of veterans who have served in this role. School Services of California will also give an overview of the proposed 2025-26 State Budget with an emphasis on the impact to community-funded districts.
