Ms. Norma E. Martinez has more than 30 years of experience in public education. She began her career as a bilingual instructional assistant and has worked as a teacher, vice principal and principal. In 2010, Ms. Martinez moved to the Centralia School District where she served as principal, Executive Director and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services prior to her selection as the first Latina Superintendent of the Centralia School District, a position she has held since 2015. Ms. Martinez is known as a transformative instructional leader, focused on cultivating relationships, creating opportunities, and celebrating success. Her work ethic and visionary leadership has earned her many special recognitions, most recently being named the CALSA Region 6 Superintendent of the Year. Under her leadership, Centralia is a student-centered high achieving and award-winning district that cares and serves all students, particularly those most vulnerable
