About me
Dr. Antoine Hawkins began serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the Evergreen School District in the 2021-22 school year. Evergreen is an urban school district with nearly 9,000 students. Prior to this, he spent several years as both a deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent. Under his leadership, student learning in Evergreen has improved and opportunities have expanded, with five Evergreen schools recently recognized as California Distinguished Schools.
In 2024, Dr. Hawkins was sworn in as President-Elect of the California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA). He is also in his fourth year serving on the advisory council for the U.S. Department of Education’s Western Educational Equity Assistance Center (WEEAC). WEEAC is one of four equity assistance centers in the U.S., which provides technical assistance and training to school districts, indigenous tribal educational agencies, and state education departments in the western U.S., the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam.
Dr. Hawkins earned a Bachelor’s degree in management, a Master’s degree from Touro University System in New York, and an earned Doctorate degree with an emphasis in organizational psychology and transformational leadership. He is also a lifetime member of the prestigious Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
