Dr. Christian J. Rubalcaba is a district administrator who began his career with Teach for America, serving as a bilingual teacher and instructional coach in the San José Unified School District, in downtown San Jose, CA. Earning National Board Certification in literacy and an administrative credential, he later became Assistant Principal in the Franklin-McKinley School District, after which he joined the San Mateo-Foster City School District (SMFCSD) serving as Principal of Laurel Elementary School, Principal of Abbott Middle School, Director of School Leadership, and currently Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Dr. Rubalcaba holds degrees from Harvard University, Purdue University, and SF State University. As Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, he focuses on providing guidance to school leaders, and ensuring every student and family can thrive with the support of restorative practices to dismantle the school-to-prison pipelines, wrap-around services at five established community schools, and increased counseling support for all 21 school sites.
